GitRepos.Online

Stop Searching. Start Contributing.

Live at: https://gitrepo.online

GitRepos.Online is a platform designed to help developers, especially those new to open source, find meaningful projects and issues to contribute to. Whether you're a seasoned developer or just starting your journey, GitRepos.Online simplifies the process of discovering opportunities to make an impact. Our primary focus is on supporting initiatives like Hacktoberfest, guiding you to beginner-friendly issues so you can focus on what matters: learning, building, and collaborating.

πŸš€ Key Features

  • 🎯 Focused Issue Hunting: Instead of aimlessly browsing GitHub, you can directly search for issues based on programming language and difficulty. We specialize in surfacing "good first issues" to ease you into the world of open-source contributions.
  • πŸŽƒ Hacktoberfest Ready: With a dedicated section for Hacktoberfest, you can quickly find repositories actively participating in the event.
  • πŸ“Š Contribution Tracking: Log in with your GitHub account to access a personalized dashboard that tracks your Hacktoberfest progress. See your pull requests for the month and which ones have been accepted.
  • πŸ” Advanced Repository Search: Looking for something specific? Use our repository search to find projects based on keywords, stars, and more.
  • πŸ’‘ Pro-Tips for Success: Our Hacktoberfest Guide provides valuable advice on how to make quality contributions, communicate effectively with maintainers, and get the most out of the event.

πŸ› οΈ How to Use GitRepos.Online

Finding Issues to Work On

  1. Navigate to the Homepage: You'll find the "Stop Searching. Start Contributing." section at the top.
  2. Select Your Language: Choose your preferred programming language from the dropdown menu.
  3. Choose a Difficulty Level:
    • Beginner: Ideal for newcomers. This filters for issues labeled "good first issue".
    • Intermediate: For those with some experience, this looks for "help wanted" labels.
    • All Levels: To see a broader range of available issues.
  4. Hunt for an Issue: Click the "Hunt for an Issue Now" button to see a curated list of issues that match your criteria.

Discovering Repositories

  1. Use the Search Bar: In the "Or Search for Repositories" section, enter a keyword (e.g., react, python, machine learning).
  2. Click "Search": This will fetch a list of repositories sorted by the number of stars.
  3. Explore Hacktoberfest Repositories: Click the "Hacktoberfest" button for a list of projects specifically tagged for the event.

Tracking Your Hacktoberfest Progress

  1. Login with GitHub: Click the "Login with GitHub" button in the navigation bar. You'll be redirected to GitHub to authorize the application.
  2. View Your Dashboard: Once logged in, you'll be taken to your dashboard, which shows:
    • Your progress toward the four accepted pull requests required for Hacktoberfest.
    • A list of your pull requests made during the Hacktoberfest period (October 1st - 31st).
    • The status of each pull request (i.e., whether it has been accepted for Hacktoberfest).

🌱 Getting Started with Open Source

New to open source? The Hacktoberfest Guide on our website is the perfect place to start. It covers essential topics like:
