Code Challenger

Provides inspiration for coding projects to build your skillset and create a portfolio.

Motivation

Final project for the Flatiron School. This repo contains the back end of the app only. Be sure to visit this repo for the front end: https://github.com/KellyStamps/final-project-frontend.

Features

Create and save information through your user account, make friends, create and save coding project ideas. This project is was created with Rails and PostgreSQL.

Installation

  1. Clone down to your computer
  2. CD into project folder on your computer from your terminal
  3. Enter "bundle install" in your terminal
  4. After installation is complete, enter "rake db:create" to create your PostgreSQL database
  5. Next enter "rake db:migrate" to create tables in your database
  6. Enter "rake db:seed" to add challenges and users to your database (feel free to delete or add users as you like in the seed file)
  7. Finally, enter "rails s" to start the server

Instructions

After installing Code Challenger, log in with a name and a password. Upon log in you will have access to the full site and can create new challenges, add challenges to your profile, and search for and add friends.

Contributing

  1. Fork it!
  2. Create your feature branch: git checkout -b my-new-feature
  3. Commit your changes: git commit -am 'Add some feature'
  4. Push to the branch: git push origin my-new-feature
  5. Submit a pull request
