Analyze and (re)define the actual problems in the User Story #47

I'll use the knowledge I gained from the book Getting Things Done With Work-Life Balance to recognize my problems.

  • I don't know what to do after I listed something.
    • I don't know how much time to spend on each item.
    • I don't know how to categorize the incoming items.
    • I don't want to lose my current context by concentrating on choosing a
category while or just after listing something.
  • I don't remove the items.
    • I don't revisit the list often enough because I don't want to feel
      overwhelmed.
    • I don't know if I should move an item to somewhere else, and where to move.
    • I don't know when to consider a task as complete
  • I don't have the tools to handle them efficiently.
    • Most tools are so generic that learning/using them becomes another task to do.
    • Some tools I tried, don't offer enough hackability, freedom and customization.
    • Some tools I tried are too inefficient to use and function.
    • Some tools I tried are too complicated.
    • Some tools I tried are too difficult to setup.
    • Some tools I wanted to try aren't available enough.
    • I don't want to try most tools because they want my email address.

I don't want them to be scattered, so I keep everything in a single place, mixed up, creating a mess.

Most tools I tried, don't integrate well with my workflow and my preferred tools and utilities.

I don't know where to look for help when I can't decide what to do with something or how to do something.

I'm not exactly clear on which specific items are causing my anxiety, so I just assume that every one of them are causing it, with equal impact on my anxiety.

Actually, the items causing my anxiety are the ones making me consistently worry about if I'm doing the right thing, at the right time, at the right place. i.e. mostly information that have some meaning for me.

I'm missing a tool to assure me that I'm in control, no matter what I list in it

Deciding on a priority could require me to be clear about my ultimate purpose in life, which I might want to avoid thinking about right now.

I worry that the knowledge items I have collected, might come in handy someday, but I have no way to easily access it when I need it the most.

I don't know how long it will take for me to reorganize.

Many tools don't allow different views and controllers of the data.

I prefer to do more dopamine producing stuff than cleanup & organization.

Re-redefined:

When I start to procrastinate, I can't come up with a good way to procrastinate. So I turn to dopamine producing actions.

The overall system I tried wasn't better than my mind.

Some items might require delegating ownership of different subtasks. I don't have a handy system to track ownership.

Most tools don't help me be aware of which of the 6 horizons of focus levels I'm in and/or need to operate at to perform some task.

I don't know how to avoid over-committing.
