Hello, my name is Michael 👋

I’m an engineer by trade. With an undergraduate degree in computer science, I spent the first 12 years of my career as a developer. Career opportunities and graduate education took me from being a developer to being a designer (in preparation for what's next). Today, I’m a product manager—focusing on data, information, knowledge, and decision products.

I like to say that my career of 20+ years has evolved from "building the solutions right" (as an engineer), to "building the right solutions” for customers (as a designer), to leading my team in creating delightful, data-powered customer experiences that align with business goals (as a product manager).

As a professional and former graduate student in data science and analytics (Columbia University), I created a blog (using Hugo) to showcase how I think about and apply data science, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and analytics. I've built, shared, and continue to maintain the hugo-michaelmallari as self-branding and self-promotion theme.
