Failure seems related to python 3.12 (that is now 3.x on Github):

  • In 3.12 f-strings are allowed to re-use the same quote style within a quote, so f"This is the playlist: {", ".join(songs)}" is legal.
  • It looks like pylint has immediately started to complain if this is not done?

So failure is not related to charset-normalizer at all -- we just don't pin the python version for linting and 3.12 showed up here first

apparently

most users should default to running pylint with the oldest Python version their project supports

That makes some sense... I can see how this suggested approach has issues too but at least it will be reproducible on CI.
