Overview

This PR adds the "Supported by Posit" badge to the infer website.

Background

We've recently started adding a "Supported by Posit" badge across all Posit package websites to create a more cohesive brand presence. The badge appears on the far right of the top navigation bar or at the bottom of the hamburger menu. It links to Posit’s main website. @hadley is involved with this initiative.

The following websites already have the "Supported by Posit" badge: ggplot2, Great Tables, gt, Plotnine, Pointblank, pointblank, and Quarto.

See https://posit-dev.github.io/supported-by-posit/ for more information.

Changes

  • Added a line to _pkgdown.yml to include the JavaScript file
  • Standardized indentation in _pkgdown.yml

Thanks for the PR, @jeroenjanssens! I'm going to give the non-Posit infer authors a week to chime in here in case anyone has thoughts.

I guess my question is how is infer supported by Posit?

Yup, reasonable question. I've been employed full-time by Posit since 2022, and my work on infer since then has been part of the gig. My work on infer 1.0.0 was the focus of a contract from Posit. @mine-cetinkaya-rundel has been employed by Posit for some number of years as well.

At the same time, most of infer's authors are not / have not been employed by Posit. Fine by me to close this with that in mind if that feels right. :)

Reading the "Supported by ..." badge I usually assume that any ongoing work (maintenance or not) is supported by "..." in some way. That seems to be true for now, but can change later.

But either way, I don't really have strong opinions on this topic. If you feel this is justified, then it is good enough for me.

Simon's work over the fast few years has been so so helpful in keeping infer well documented, bug free, and up-to-date with the rest of the tidy ecosystem. I'm fine with acknowledging the Posit's financial support here.
