Unwalled is an Aptos based layer 1 decentralized, permissionless ad-tech blockchain built to support next-generation open standards for the digital advertising industry.
This respository serves as the foundational technical prototype for creating the Unwalled distributed advertising system based on the published manifesto utilizing a fork of the Aptos protocol blockchain. This will include issuing a native utility token, XUW (Unwalled International Currency). We look forward to the upcoming Devnet, Testnet, and Mainnet Genesis Ceremonies as we bring this bold vision to market.
The reason for the fork is we need all the features of Aptos (low latency to parallelized finalization, high throughput) but we also need the transaction cost to be incredibly small since the blockchain won't be moving high value financial transactions it will be focused on micro transactions only. As part of this effort and to recognize and reward the outstanding achievements of the Aptos Labs project, including it's team and loyal supporters, there will be two seasons of distributions upon the successful launch of Unwalled mainnet allowing holders of the Aptos Coin (APT) to receive a portion of the initial distribution of Unwalled Coin facilitated through an opt-in mechanism. This will not be a 1:1 airdrop and it will involve time bound distributions requiring a user to authenticate on both corresponding mainnet chainIds prior to the to be designated cutoff. At distribution time if the originating Aptos account APT balance is not present it will be disqualified from the reward.
In terms of technical design many methods were considered during early prototypes/proof-of-concepts including building from scratch and forking existing chains. The Cosmos SDK and Polkadot Substrate models were studied extensively along with the benefits and ecosystems around Golang, Rust, Solidity and Move. In order to maximize leverage on advancing the project this repository provides our precise technical direction. These decisions carefully considered the shortcomings of earlier technology solutions and has translated the strategic vision for the project into an actionable engineering plan, beginning with the launch of a public Devnet to maximize agility with the minimum risk possible. The fork will utilize its own native XUW currency, validator set, and on-chain economy, setting the stage for the development of a radically transparent and efficient ad-tech ecosystem.
