As we're removing currency symbols and decimal places for simplicity and friendliness it would help if we come up with some kind of symbol or something to show that the numbers represent money.

@jancborchardt ?

There is a currency sign for unspecified currency: ¤

Yeah, we discussed about this before. No one knows/understands the currency icon unfortunately, so we can’t use that.

We could use €/$/… or something like that. But that might make people think we handle different currencies in the same tab?

Or, we could actually go there and introduce a per-tab setting of »Currency«. Default could be Euro or Dollar. (And then a dropdown with all the other currencies …)

No currencies. We need something more abstract.

Brainstorming: moneybag, pile o' cash, stack of greens, a hand that makes this cash gesture, a wallet, the word "Amount", "$$$", a coin-like golden circle plus a bill-like green rectangle, ",-", ...

That reminds me - we also considered not completely ditching the decimal places, but putting them small and to the top right (like they often are in stores, looking similar to exponents).

Additionally as a symbol: From the list above, the abstract bill and coin sounds good - what do you think?

I'd like to see some coins. @jancborchardt, maybe you can draw something we can talk about? The small top right decimals are also good. I can try that.

We tried the small top right decimals and that was not cool. See also #65 (comment)

Would really like to see some scribbles @jancborchardt @deohem

We also thought about a "money" icon but it doesn’t really look good unless in color – but then it’s too much when every entry has it:
grouptabs currency

The "money" icons in The Noun Project: https://thenounproject.com/search/?q=money – also are only recognizable when they have a dollar icon, and then it’s very specific and we could just use the $ symbol.
