A utility to track the progress of long running operations in Java.
Attempting to track the progress of long running operations can be unexpectedly cumbersome. Even if all you want to do is print a status update to standard out.
How frequently should updates be printed? What if there's no change in progress? What if the task has already completed? With Progress Monitor you can take all the guess work out of the equation and write code like this:
final ProgressMonitor progress = ProgressMonitor.create()
.setDynamicStepSize(10, 1000)
.setMaximum(10000)
.addProgressListener(event -> ...);
while (...) {
...
progress.increment();
}
progress.completed();
