Hydration

What's Minecraft without a little bit of thirst, right?!?!?
Just like eating in the game, you're going to need to also drink to keep yourself hydrated.
This page will go over the ins and outs of hydration.

Draining:

  • Doing exhaustive tasks (such as running, jumping, mining) will drop your thirst level
  • Hanging out in direct sunlight in a hot biome (such as deserts, savanna and badlands) during the day will drop your thirst level
  • Hanging out in the Nether will also drain your thirst level

If you are thirsty, craft a bowl to obtain water, throw it into a water source and it'll fill up. Drinking it will quench your thirst, but be warned it may cause some unwelcome side effects.
This is the first step in your water journey.
As you progress thru the game you'll be able to move up to water bottles and some delicious purified water.

Water Bottles:

Water Bottles can be obtained by right-clicking a glass bottle into a water source.
Be warned, water from water sources is not purified and not safe to drink.
You're going to get salty water from the oceans, murky water from swamps, and dirty water from other water sources.
A lil secret, you can get purified water in lush cave biomes.

Drinking impure water has high chance of some unsavoury side effects.

To get rid of that risk, you can either clean your water or purify it:

Clean Water:

Clean water will have a medium risk of getting poisoned. Theres a couple of ways to get clean water:

  1. Throw a dirty water bottle on the campfire:

  1. Throw a dirty water bottle in a furnace or smoker:

To clean water this way will take longer than most cooking recipes.

Purified Water:

Purified water is the cleanest water you can get.
It will have no negative side effects and it will replenish your thirst meter a lot quicker.
We have 2 methods, the cauldron method and the brewing stand method.

Cauldron Method:

  1. Make a Cauldron and prepare a fuel block.
  2. Light the Cauldron with fire.
  3. Fill the Cauldron with water.
  4. Fill the glass bottles with this purified water.

Brewing Stand Method:

Throw some water (dirty, murky, salty or clean) into a brewing stand along with some charcoal to filter the water.
Mmmm, yummy purified water!

Coffee:

You can craft coffee in your crafting table.
When drank, it will increase your thirst level by 23 points, and will also refresh your energy level.
