It has been noticed that many of the Chitralekha users have been facing some common, very basic issues that can easily be sorted out by the users themselves without any external help. Below is a list of best practices to follow while using Chitralekha to avoid/overcome some such common errors.
- Always have only one browser tab opened for Chitralekha.
- Should you notice any unusual activity on Chitralekha, before you get external help, try to clear your browser cache & cookies.
- After a work session, rather than leave the Chitralekha tab open until the next time the tool is visited, it is recommended to:
- Save your progress,
- Close the tab and
- Open fresh the next time. This will allow the tool to reflect all the changes previously made.
- While in the editing page, before jumping to a new page ensure that save button is manually clicked. After editing the last few cards of a page, manually save the changes before pressing play on the video that might automatically take the user to the next page.
- It is highly recommended to follow the complete work flow, starting with Transcription Edit - Transcription Review - Translation Edit - Translation Review - VoiceOver Edit - VoiceOver Review. The role of the reviewer is critical in verifying the task and ensuring high quality output.
- It is recommended that the users follow the published guidelines for Transcription and Translation, also to ensure high quality output.
- Contact your Project Manager, in case you are having any issues with the tasks/videos.
- As an escalation, if there are any issues noticed in the Chitralekha platform:
- Prepare the steps to reproduce the issue. This will help the team to understand the problem and solve it.
- And contact Aswathy ([email protected]) or send a message in the WhatsApp group dedicated for resolution of issues faced on Chitralekha.
NOTE
Please note that when videos are large in size, the browser will take up significant RAM space, thereby slowing down the tool (Depending on the configuration of the system). This is a browser/system issue which cannot be resolved by the Chitralekha technical team.
Anyone trying to translate content to Manipuri, please note that unlike for other languages, an explicit font needs to be first installed in the computer/browser.
