Ideas for armour assignment:

  1. Starting set

  2. Early game set

  3. Early-mid game set

  4. Random non set items, mixed early to mid game

Idea for weapon assignment:
Have 16(4 bits) items total instead of 2x9(18 items but 8 bits) with non double-handed items being assignable to either(or both?) hands.

Near the beginning of the game, the player gets to choose between magic type 1 or 2. Later on, the player gets an upgrade for the type they chose before. Once they get type 3 they can go back and get the early game version of the other type which some enemies are weak too in order to make even a weaker magic weapon useful. Armour can impact weapon stats so unlikely to be that bad.
