Agenda

Review 1.10

  • Milestones
  • 1.10.4
    • Still Nothing new. No one raised any issues at this time.

Review 2.0.x

  • Wiki

    • 2.0.2 - Schedule, no drivers right now.
      • Probably want to do it. 2.0.1 does have some problems. Nvidia couldn't even build.
  • Milestones

    • 2.1.0
      • PMIx 1.2.0 stuff. Artem has been working away. Thinks we have final set of commits needed, and stacked up.
        • Looking to merge tomorrow and test.
        • Hope to have a PR on Friday (optimistically)
        • ABI support IBM wants for Queries, not in 1.x
        • Will NOT change the PMIx Framework, but will update the PMIx component.
        • PMIx external should not need changes.
        • Probably should update the Open MPI master, before we put them into the 2.x branch of Open MPI.
      • Ralph would like to update OMPI master with PMIx master to get coverage for features that are coming in with PMIx 1.2.0.
        • This will cause some changes for components that call PMIx, but worth it to get test coverage in master before PMIX 1.2.0 rev.
      • Ralph would like to get Roseta stone done in next 2 weeks for super computing.
      • PMIx dstore configure off by default for 2.1.0, but on in master now to get better testing.
      • Schedule - looking risky for end of month.
        • yoda work won't happen until after PMIx work is complete and in.
        • Coming up to supercomputing
        • Two blocker issues, that have to be done.
        • Mellanox wants OMPI 2.1.0 out by end of month.
        • IBM needs content, but early 2017 is possibly okay, but want to be sensitive of Mellanoxes need too.
        • Community would like to do As soon as possible, just realizing the challenges of end of the year schedule.
      • Discussed PR2176 - Add an experimental ability to skip the RTE barriers.
        • Mellanox says UCX supports this, so it would be nice on UCX.
          • Need to tell people this won't work if not using UCX (or network that doesn't need it)
          • Would like information how UCX supports communication to a non-existant remote process.
  • GITHUB Tags / Milestones - not well documented in wiki.

    • push-back tag - means it's gone back to the author.
    • Other tags have changed meanings over time.
  • SPI - http://www.spi-inc.org/

    • Open MPI vote to be in SPI may be delayed a month.
      • SPI's Official notice to mailling list had some issues. Some non-board members only finding out yesterday.
      • General population needs to know, in case they know about possible pending lawsuits against new members.
  • New Contribution agreement / Consent agreement / Bylaws.

    • Official notice: Members will hold a formal vote in 2 weeks (Oct 25) to vote on new bylaws.
    • Comment that driver for this is no longer there, since they've become a member.
    • Comment that this new bylaw is driving towards way other open source projects are managing this.
    • Comment that 2 week notice for official votes is highly preferable.
    • Geoff Paulsen will send out notice, and ask for comments to devel mailing list.
    • Geoff Paulsen will send out voting notice to devel-core for Oct 25th vote.
  • EuroMPI 2016 In Edinburgh - Spet 25-28

    • MPI Forum: Sept. 21-23
