Modules

The modules will be selected based on interest of the participant in this initiative. The focus is on self-learning materials.

For each module we will have:

  • Title
  • Audience
  • General Objectives
  • Specific Objectives
  • Prerequisites

The process for developing a module is as follows:

  1. Provide title, audience, general objectives and prerequisites
  2. For each General objective develop very specific measurable objectives.
  3. Develop Content for each objective
  4. Each content provides explanation of the concept and examples

Module Types

Modules can be:

  • Specific per standard (WMS 1.3)
  • Specific per domain/market (SDI)

They are both related.

Module Examples

Module - WMS

Title: OGC Web Map Service

Audience: Technology integrators, software architects and software developers.

Objectives:

  • Understand what WMS can be used for
  • Understand WMS operations
  • Understand differences between WMS versions
  • Be able to deploy a WMS Server
  • Be able to use a client and consume a WMS Service

Module - Spatial Data Infrastructure

A first module might be focussed on the skills that an SDI software architect or developer needs to have.

Title: Spatial Data infrastructure

Audience ..

General Objectives:

  • The student should understand the fundamental concepts of SDIs
  • The student should understand the basic technologies underlying the web and the basic protocols for exchange of information
  • The student should understand and be able to provide basic services of an SDI: metadata, visualization and data access.
