Saving throws against poison and area effects succeed on a 1-2 on 1D6.

The following abilities only work when the Duelist is in melee and threatened by only 1 opponent that round.

  • +4 ATK.

  • +2 DEF.

  • After successfully defending against an attack, make a free attack with a Bane.

  • Roll an extra damage die on an ATK roll of 1.

Level 6

  • The Duelist can use Duelist skills even when fighting up to 2 opponents.

  • Roll an extra damage die on an ATK roll of 4 or less. Additionally, an ATK roll of 1 will (in normal circumstances) kill any opponent with fewer HD than your level.

Mechanical Notes

Ensuring that the duelist is in a small space with an enemy is essential. Two people can stand side by side in a 10'x10' area, so pushing fights into corridors, stairwells, alongside furniture, etc will become important. Attention to spatial details will become secondhand to a successful player of a Duelist.
