ModMyFactory allows you to use existing Factorio installations (including the Steam version of Factorio) and to create new ones.

Everything described on this page refers to the version manager. To open the version manager you can click the icon in the toolbar, select Edit -> Version manager in the menu or press F6.

Download a new version of Factorio

ModMyFactory allows you to download Factorio directly from the official website.

To get a list of all available versions click the Download button on the right. If you don't have your login credentials stored ModMyFactory will ask you to log in with your Factorio account.

Install Factorio from archive

If you do not want to log in through ModMyFactory you can also download Factorio manually and supply the app with the archive.

To install Factorio from archive click the Add from ZIP button on the right or drop the file into the Version Manager window. Make sure to choose the correct platform (32 bit or 64 bit) when downloading the archive, ModMyFactory will reject archives that do not match your current platform.

Use an existing installation of Factorio

If Factorio is already installed on your Computer you do not have to redownload it, ModMyFactory can make use of existing installations. If you import an existing installation ModMyFactory will copy the files to the managed location and leave the original files untouched, meaning your installation will still be functional afterwards, although it itself will not be managed by ModMyFactory.

To add an existing installation of Factorio to ModMyFactory click the Add from folder button on the right.
In the following dialog select the folder that contains Factorio. The folder you are looking for contains the bin and data subfolders.

During the process ModMyFactory will automatically copy any mods, savegames (excluding autosaves) and scenarios found in the selected installation.

Use the Steam version of Factorio

ModMyFactory also supports the Steam version of Factorio. It can be loaded automatically, however you still need to instruct ModMyFactory to search for it first. To do this click the Select Steam version button on the right. If you have Factorio installed through Steam it will then automatically be added and all mods, savegames and scenarios will be imported also.

Note that to be able to manage the Steam version of Factorio, ModMyFactory needs to overwrite some files in %appdata%\Factorio. When adding the Steam version a backup of these files will be created automatically at %appdata%\Factorio-old. Should you wish to remove the Steam version from ModMyFactory you can use this backup to restore your data.

Rename Factorio installations

Each of your Factorio installations (except the Steam version) can be given a unique name to better identify it.
After adding a new installation you will automatically enter rename mode. You can also rename an installation at any time by clicking next to its name.

Note that renaming a Factorio installation will break all links that are referencing it.
