Here you can find information about all the available settings in ModMyFactory.
To open the settings select Edit -> Settings
in the menu or press F12
.
The settings in this section control when and how ModMyFactory will search for updates.
-
Search for updates on startup
If this is enabled ModMyFactory will silently search for updates when started. -
Include prereleases when searching for updates
Indicates whether ModMyFactory will also search for updates that are marked as pre-release.
Pre-releases may be less stable but contain upcoming new features.
ModMyFactory allows you to adjust how it will handle mods.
-
Automatically mark mods for hard updates
When enabled ModMyFactory will auto-select mods to be replaced when updating.
Mods can still be deselected manually. -
Always keep mod updates zipped
With this enabled ModMyFactory will always keep updated mods inside their ZIP archive.
Otherwise updates for mods that are extracted will also automatically be extracted (updates for mods in archives will still be kept as archives). -
Keep old mod versions when updating
Normally ModMyFactory will delete the old version of an updated mod, if and only if it is no longer referenced by any modpack (see Locking a Modpack).
This setting prevents this behaviour and keeps the old version in all cases. -
When activating a mod also activate its dependencies
If this setting is enabled ModMyFactory will automatically activate a mods required dependencies when activating the mod. This also affects activating the mod through a modpack or when starting the game using a link. -
Also activate optional dependencies
This option is only available if the previous option is enabled.
When enabled, ModMyFactory will also automatically enable all installed optional dependencies of an activated mod. Hidden dependencies are not enabled. Missing optional dependencies will not cause an error. -
Activate newly installed mods
This option controls if newly installed mods are automatically enabled or not. This affects mods installed from a local file/folder, mods downloaded from the mod portal and updates of mods.
ModMyFactory can store your login credentials so you don't have to reenter them every time.
To store them you have to check Remember my login credentials
, enter your credentials and press OK
. Alternatively you can also do this when ModMyFactory asks you to enter your credentials.
If you uncheck this option and already have credentials stored, ModMyFactory will delete them from your hard drive.
Note that if you have credentials stored and reenter the settings window, your password will not be shown. This is because of security reasons.
You don't have to reenter your password on exit, just leave the box empty.
ModMyFactory expects the same credentials used at https://factorio.com/login. Using forum credentials or any other ones will not work and result in a failed login.
ModMyFactory uses the Windows Data Protection API to securely store your credentials on hard drive. By design this encryption can never be 100% secure, so don't give out your Windows login and keep your computer clean of maleware.
