It is important to check the read quality before and after trimming. This allows one to compare the quality of the reads before and after the preprocessing and see if the reads are of sufficient quality. This also allows for the removal of reads which maybe of questionable quality, and thereby maintaining the quality of the results downstream.
FastQC was used for quality control purposes, and was used for the following datasets:
- WGS Reads
- ChiP-seq reads
- RNA Seq pre-trimmed reads
- RNA Seq raw reads.
